I recently found an envelope that contained information about an event that occurred on May 15, 1989.
Bernice Chefitz was honored by Maimonides School in Brookline, Massachusetts, at their annual Scholarship Dinner.
The Jewish Advocate, New England’s largest Jewish newspaper, wrote an article about Bernice prior to the dinner.
At the dinner, Bernice was introduced by her husband, Mel. His handwritten notecards still exist.
Then Bernice spoke, and we are fortunate to still have her typed (from a typewriter) speech that she delivered that night.
